Lessig vs. Brinton - Breach of Promise Suit

Triangle Claim in $25,000 Suit

Divorcee Says Man Failed to Wed Her; Another Woman Blaimed

Suit for $25,000 damages for alleged breach of promise was brought by Blanche V. Lessig, of North Fourth Street, through Attorneys Emerson B. Rasbridge and Lee Friday, against Caleb D. Brinton, of River road, near Douglassville. The statement avers both parties are about 40 years of age, and that the defendant operates a road house at his home.

The statement of claim avers that, in 1927, at the request of Brinton, she obtained a divorce and that he paid for the divorce. She alleges that he promised to marry her as soon as she obtained her divorce.

Introduced as "Wife"

The plaintiff claims that, upon the faith of his promise to marry her, and to make her his wife, she entered the home of Brinton, at Douglassville, and lived with him as his wife from August, 1927, until June, 1932, her introducing her, during the time, to numerous persons as his "wife", and she being known to many patrons of his road house as his "wife."

The plaintiff avers that the defendant became enamored with another woman whom he took into his house and with whom he is now living, and that he neglects and refuses to marry the plaintiff.1
