St. Peter's at Knauertown has a very long history in the area and it is believed that there was a log church in the area prior to the Revolution. The first stoen church was erected in 1816 and teh church was known at that point as St. Peter's Temple and later as St/ Peter's German Reformed church. The church was rebuilt in 1853 and in 1925. Until 1931, when a full-time rector was installed, St. Peter's was served by ministers traveling from Brownback's church. In 1957, the church took its current name of St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
Burials were made in the cemetery prior to the building of the first church, with a burial recorded from 1794.
