IN 1779, Father Charles Sewell, S. J., took title to a lot here. Log structure built 1784; brick edifice in 1806. Present church erected 1893 by Father Henery G. Gauss. Adjacent is St. Katherine's Hall, built by Mother Katherine Drexel, 1901, for Catholics at Carlisle Indian School.
